STUDENTS AND UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

2020 brought many new challenges into our life as well as gave us new opportunities for better change. In 2015 the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted. It contains 17 universal and overarching goals (SDGs) and 169 targets aimed at creating a better world for all humanity. Beside pandemic situation students that are usually the most active part of society are involved in many social activities related to the UN SDGs, create movements and associations, provide humanitarian aid.

But is it possible to achieve the implementation of 17 Goals in new realities? Are there goals that mostly reflects the needs of students? How can students participate in the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030?

In frames of Russian Students' Day that is widely celebrated in our country and the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations on 22 January 2021 the Russian Centre in Brussels holds youth meeting dedicated to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The discussion is held within Brussels Dialogue Forum.

We will share the ideas and experiences of students' involvement in Russia and Belgium into the implementation of SDGs goals, and speak about such areas as education, health, climate, health, employment, promotion of sustainable development.

During the meeting we will meet young SDG leaders and UN youth delegated from Russia, Belgium and Europe. We will tell about SDGs, international and cyber volunteering and how it is possible to implement goals even staying at home.

During the meeting the participants will work in small groups. The culmination of the meeting will be the creation of common statement.

As former UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld said in 1954  “the United Nations was not created in order to bring us to heaven, but in order to save us from hell."

We look forward to UN and our future with enthusiasm and Think.Act.Create, unite all the efforts to build better world!

Please join us in the dialogue! That is never too late to learn!

At the end of the meeting you will receive a useful present and tasty surprise!
