Irina Semenenko is Dr. of Science (Politics), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Deputy Director of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations, Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) and Head of the Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies at IMEMO.
She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Association of Political Science, scientific director of the Expert Network for Identity Research, and member of the Expert Council of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (section "Political Sciences").
Her field of research includes the study of social and political changes in Western societies and Russia and identity transformations in contemporary societies. She has authored several books on these topics, the latest is an edited volume on “Identity: The Individual, Society, and Politics” (2017).
